Odontologia, Auriculoterapia, Medicina Tradicional ChinesaAbstract
Objective: The main objective of this study was to carry out a literature review, seeking the most current scientific evidence on the use of auriculotherapy in clinical practice in the field of Dentistry. : PubMed, Scielo, LILACS and Cochrane Library. Search strategies were used in Portuguese, English and Spanish, namely: “dentistry and auriculotherapy, dentistry and auriculotherapy and odontology and auriculotherapy”. After the search, analysis, data extraction to a table and interpretation of clinical trials were performed. The inclusion criteria of the studies were: (1) use of auriculotherapy techniques associated with dental treatments, (2) if the studies had solid and reliable data, (3) considerable sample size, (4) articles with a trial study design clinical trials and systematic reviews. Results: Eleven clinical trials were selected for analysis and data extraction. No systematic reviews on the subject were found. It was observed that the use of auricular techniques associated with several dental treatments was an effective method in most of the studies analyzed. Conclusion: Although the volume of data is still low, most of the studies analyzed showed that the use of auriculotherapy techniques can be effective in association with dental treatment.
