Abstract

Cancer is a pathology studied for a long time, which increasingly has its number of affected people increasing exponentially, treating these patients in a more comprehensive way is an advance with the creation of multidisciplinary teams, which has the clinical pharmacist, plays an essential role, as it participates in the manipulation of antineoplastic drugs, considered a high-risk medication, and now in a more effective way in the elaboration of the therapeutic plan together with the other members of the multidisciplinary team. The present study aims to describe, according to the literature, how the clinical pharmacist is inserted in the multidisciplinary team in the context of the treatment of cancer patients and their contributions in order to minimize or avoid unsuccessful prescriptions that cause irreversible damage to the patient. This is an integrative review with the aim of promoting a systematic investigation of the problem in order to identify possible gaps in knowledge. For the discussion, 12 articles were selected, which showed correlation with the inclusion criteria. Therefore, the data obtained were presented in tables, evaluated and interpreted according to the objective outlined at the beginning of this work. It is concluded that clinical pharmaceutical services guarantee to be a means of intervention of significant relevance in order to guarantee safety for the patient with cancer, in addition to optimizing the health service by reducing hospitalization time and unnecessary expenses, favoring the achievement of goals established by the multidisciplinary team.
